Anderson+Kincaid to create interior visual installations for Oak Lawn Place

North Texas’ first LGBTQIA+ affirming senior housing is slated to open in June 2024

DALLAS (June 1, 2023) Aderson+Kincaid has been commissioned by Resource Center and Perkins+Will to create the interior visuals for Oak Lawn Place, the first LGBTQIA+ affirming affordable senior housing development in North Texas. The 84-unit development, located at 5723 Sadler Circle in Oak Lawn, is being built to help meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the area. It will be an affirming and safe place for the LGBTQIA+ community.

The complex will feature LGBTQIA+ affirming art by renowned North Texas-based artists Ted Kincaid and Scott Anderson, including a number of groundbreaking video installations, as well as art that reflects the rich history of the North Texas LGBTQ community.

Scott Anderson states, “As an ally of the community, it is an honor to be invited to help craft this welcoming space. Working with my gay  collaborator Ted and the diverse people involved is a way to help my friends and loved ones, and also make the world a better and brighter place. It is our hope that through affirming imagery, humor, and beauty, residents of Oak Lawn Place will feel welcomed and feel loved every day.”

Ted Kincaid adds,  “As a longtime member of the Dallas LGBTQ+ family, being able to develop a welcoming environment for generations of individuals who fought so hard to move the ball forward for equality, is a task I approach with deep love and a profound awareness of importance.”
